Project Engineer (New Build Rigs) – Discipline Leader - Dubai

Job Purpose 
The Project Engineer requires thorough knowledge of a discipline within New Rig Construction and Management, relating to the delivery of a specialist area within the New Build or Rig Refurbishment Contract. This expertise will be either Structural, Mechanical, Piping or Electrical Instrumentation lead and the candidate will be the key stakeholder in the management and delivery of his area of expertise. Reporting to the Construction Manager, this will be a hands-on, site-based role, leading the physical delivery of the subject area, whether undertaken directly or by a nominated Contractor or Specialist Sub-Contractor. The Project Engineer will be responsible that standards and procedures are followed, particularly in relation to Health and Safety and on time and On Budget delivery.

Primary Accountabilities
Act as the discipline leader for the related field within the new rig build contract, whether Structural, Mechanical, Piping or E+I.
Lead the construction activity for the related discipline, managing the interface between client and the assigned contractors or sub-contractors to ensure that the scope of work is delivered on time and on schedule as per the critical path.
Lead and ensure that the company culture and its key priorities are maintained on site, particularly in relation to HSE and Quality. Perform engineering assessments for the project related tasks which may include the installation of key rig structures, the ramifications of actions as well as preparing technical reports and verify 'As-Built' record drawings for accuracy. Prepare and review layout plans and any engineering details for construction activity produced by draftsmen and designers. Prepare and review cost estimates and material take-offs as part of the construction documents in the specialist area. Perform field activities such as site surveys and record existing field conditions, take and verify measurements within project area. Provide mentoring and transfer knowledge, skills and experience to entry-level engineers and designers.

Education Requirements:
The successful candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in a construction or engineering related field. The candidate should be able to demonstrate significant experience in the preferred area of specialization with a New Build Rig Contract, whether Structural, Mechanical, Piping or Electrical and Insrtumentation.5 to 10 years’ experience of site/yard based construction work

Work Experience:
You must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in the construction of a new rig or MODU with a demonstrable track record of on-time and on-budget delivery
